A poker calculator India search can lead to several very different tools. One calculator may show the probability of completing a flush. Another may compare a hand against an opponent’s range. A third may tell you how much equity is needed to call a particular bet. Some tools also calculate implied odds, expected value or stack-to-pot ratio.
Those numbers are related, but they are not interchangeable.
Having nine outs does not automatically mean you have 35% equity. It means that, under clean-out assumptions, you have approximately a 35% chance of hitting at least one of those outs over the turn and river. Your actual equity can be higher or lower depending on your current hand, the opponent’s possible cards, ties, redraws and whether every apparent out really produces the best hand.

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 came into force on 1 May 2026. It extends throughout India and also addresses services offered from outside India. The Act defines an online money game broadly as an online game in which a user pays fees, deposits money or provides another stake in expectation of monetary or similar enrichment. The definition applies irrespective of whether the game is based on skill, chance or a combination of both.
The Act prohibits offering online money games, advertising or promoting them, and facilitating transfers of funds for online money gaming services. It separately recognises online social games that do not involve staking money or participating in expectation of monetary gain.

A useful calculator should make its inputs unambiguous. The most common errors happen because a user enters the wrong version of the pot size or counts a card twice.

Game format
Select Texas Hold’em, Omaha or another supported variant. The calculations on this page use Texas Hold’em unless stated otherwise.
Your hole cards
Enter the two private cards held by the player being analysed.
Community cards
Enter the flop, turn or river cards that are already visible.
Opponent hand or range
Choose either exact hole cards or a realistic range of possible hands. An exact hand calculation and a range calculation answer different questions.
Pot before the opponent’s action
This is the amount already in the pot before the bet or raise being faced.
Opponent’s bet or raise
Enter the new amount added by the opponent.
Amount required to call
Do not assume this always equals the opponent’s full bet. After earlier action or a raise, the additional amount required may be different.
Effective stack
Use the smaller remaining stack among the players involved. Chips that cannot be won from the shorter stack should not be included in the effective-stack calculation.
Number of opponents
Drawing probability may remain the same, but winning equity usually changes as more opponents are added.
Recommended calculator outputs
A transparent tool should show more than one unexplained percentage. Useful outputs include:
- Clean outs
- Chance of improving on the next card
- Chance of improving by the river
- Hand equity against the selected hand or range
- Required equity for a call
- Equity advantage or deficit

- Warnings for duplicated, blocked or potentially dirty outs
A result such as “34.97%” is not useful unless the user knows whether it represents the chance of completing a draw, total showdown equity or something else.
1. Outs Calculator: Count the Cards That May Improve a Hand
An out is an unseen card that improves the player’s hand to a holding expected to win often enough for the calculation being made.
The phrase “expected to win” matters. A card that completes a hand is not always a clean out. Completing a low flush may still leave the player behind a higher flush. Pairing an overcard may improve one pair while simultaneously completing an opponent’s straight. A card can improve the visible hand category without making it the likely winner.

Example: Counting a flush draw
You hold A♥ K♥.
The flop is 10♥ 4♥ 2♠.
There are 13 hearts in a standard deck. Four are already known: two in your hand and two on the board.
13 − 4 = 9 apparent flush outs
On the next card, the probability of receiving a heart is based on nine favourable cards among 47 unseen cards:
9 ÷ 47 = approximately 19.15%
By the river, with two cards still to come, the chance of seeing at least one heart is approximately 34.97%.
That does not automatically mean the hand has exactly 34.97% equity. Ace-high may already beat some opponent holdings, and some heart runouts may give an opponent a full house or a higher made hand. Equity requires a comparison against the opponent’s cards or range.
Example: Avoiding double-counted outs
You hold Q♣ J♣.
The flop is 10♣ 9♦ 2♣.
A King or an 8 completes a straight:
- Four Kings
- Four 8s
- Eight apparent straight outs
Any remaining club completes a flush:
- Nine apparent flush outs
Adding eight and nine gives 17, but that is wrong. K♣ and 8♣ appear in both groups. Each physical card can be counted only once.
8 straight outs + 9 flush outs − 2 overlapping cards = 15 unique outs
The probability of hitting at least one of 15 outs by the river is approximately 54.12% under a clean-out model.
Clean outs, discounted outs and dirty outs
A good outs calculator should let users discount uncertain cards.
Clean out
A clean out is expected to make the best hand without creating a major redraw problem.
Discounted out
A discounted out may win some of the time but cannot safely be counted at full value.
Suppose six apparent overcard outs improve A-K to top pair. If the opponent can hold two pair, a set or a dominated draw that becomes stronger on the same card, counting all six as clean may overstate the true probability.
A player might estimate only three or four effective outs rather than six. That adjustment is subjective, so an accurate tool should label it as an assumption.
Dirty out
A dirty out improves the hand but commonly produces a losing result.
For example, completing the low end of a straight on a coordinated board may leave the player behind a higher straight. A low flush card may complete a higher flush for an opponent. Such cards should be removed or heavily discounted.
Five frequent outs-counting mistakes
1. Counting the same card twice
This commonly happens with straight-and-flush combination draws.
2. Treating all overcards as clean
An Ace or King may improve the hand without making it the winner.
3. Ignoring an opponent’s redraw
Completing a straight on the turn does not end the hand. The river may pair the board and complete a full house.
4. Counting impossible cards
Visible cards and known folded cards in a controlled study exercise are no longer available.
5. Counting a backdoor draw as ordinary outs
A backdoor flush requires two suitable cards, not one. It should be calculated as a two-card sequence rather than as nine immediate outs.

Once clean outs have been estimated, the next step is calculating the chance of receiving at least one of them.
Probability on the next card
On the flop, 47 cards are unseen because two hole cards and three board cards are known.
The probability of hitting one of O outs on the turn is:
Next-card probability = O ÷ 47
On the turn, 46 cards are unseen:
River probability = O ÷ 46
Probability from flop to river
With two cards still to come, it is easiest to calculate the probability of missing both cards and subtract that result from 100%.
Probability of hitting by the river:
1 − [(47 − O) ÷ 47 × (46 − O) ÷ 46]
For nine outs:
1 − (38 ÷ 47 × 37 ÷ 46)
= approximately 34.97%

The Rule of 2 and 4
The Rule of 2 and 4 is a mental shortcut:
- With one card to come, multiply outs by approximately 2.
- From the flop with two cards to come, multiply outs by approximately 4.
A nine-out flush draw produces:
- Flop to river estimate:
9 × 4 = 36% - Exact result: approximately 34.97%
- Turn to river estimate:
9 × 2 = 18% - Exact result: approximately 19.57%
The shortcut is close enough for fast estimation in many ordinary study examples, but its error becomes larger with numerous outs.
For 15 outs:
- Rule-of-4 estimate: 60%
- Exact probability: approximately 54.12%
That difference is too large to ignore in a close calculation.
A more accurate mental shortcut
For modest numbers of outs, the Rule of 2 and 4 is usually serviceable. With more than eight outs on the flop, reduce the Rule-of-4 result slightly.
One practical approximation is:
Flop-to-river percentage ≈ outs × 4 − adjustment
The adjustment grows as the number of outs increases. It remains an approximation, so an exact calculator is preferable during off-table review.
The most important correction is conceptual: this shortcut estimates the probability of hitting listed outs. It does not automatically calculate total hand equity.
3. Poker Equity Calculator India: What Equity Really Means
Equity is the share of the pot a hand would expect to receive if the remaining cards were dealt repeatedly under the same assumptions.
A player who wins 60% of runouts and never ties has 60% equity. A player who wins 50%, ties 20% and loses 30% has:
50% + half of 20% = 60% equity
For a heads-up comparison:
Equity = (wins + 0.5 × ties) ÷ total trials
For multiway pots, tied outcomes are divided according to the number of players sharing them.
Draw probability is not always equity
Consider a flush draw with nine clean-looking outs. The chance of completing the flush by the river is approximately 34.97%, but the player’s equity can differ because:
- The current hand may already be ahead
- Pairing a hole card may also win
- Some flush cards may not be clean
- The opponent may improve after the flush arrives
- A tie may occur
- The assumed opponent range may be inaccurate
A poker equity calculator should enumerate complete runouts and compare final five-card hands. Merely counting drawing cards cannot capture every outcome.
Exact hand versus exact hand
This is the simplest equity calculation.
Example:
- Player A: A♠ K♠
- Player B: Q♥ Q♦
- Board: 10♣ 7♠ 2♠
The calculator examines all legal turn-and-river combinations from the remaining deck. It records how often each player wins and how often they tie.
There are 47 unseen cards after the flop, creating:
47 × 46 ÷ 2 = 1,081
unordered turn-and-river combinations before additional exclusions for known opponent cards are considered. When both players’ hole cards are entered, only 45 cards remain unknown, so the precise runout count becomes:
45 × 44 ÷ 2 = 990
The tool evaluates every legal outcome rather than relying only on apparent outs.
Hand versus range equity
In real analysis, an opponent’s exact cards are rarely known. A range calculation is therefore often more informative.
A range might include:
- Strong made hands
- Top-pair combinations
- Flush draws
- Straight draws
- Missed overcards
- Occasional bluffs
Each combination should be weighted according to how frequently it is expected to appear.
This is where poor assumptions create false precision. A calculator may display 57.4%, but the number is meaningful only if the entered range is realistic. Removing all bluffs or adding impossible combinations can change the answer dramatically.

Card removal and blockers
Known cards reduce the number of possible combinations available to an opponent.
Suppose the board contains three hearts and you hold A♥. An opponent cannot hold the ace-high flush because the A♥ is already accounted for. Your card blocks that combination.
Blockers affect:
- The number of possible flushes
- Straight combinations
- Full-house combinations
- Bluff combinations
- Value-to-bluff balance assumptions
An advanced poker calculator should remove impossible combinations automatically. A manual range calculation must do the same.
Equity is not a guarantee
A hand with 80% equity can lose the next deal. Equity describes a long-run frequency under specific assumptions, not a prediction of the next card.
Over ten trials, results may vary widely from the expected percentage. Even over hundreds of hands, normal variance can create long winning or losing stretches.
A mathematically favourable position can therefore produce a losing outcome without the calculation being wrong.
4. Pot Odds Calculator: Find the Break-Even Equity
Pot odds compare the cost of calling with the total pot that will exist after the call.
The cleanest formula is:
Required equity = amount to call ÷ final pot after calling
If a calculator asks for the pot before the opponent’s bet:
Required equity = call ÷ (pot before bet + opponent bet + call)
Worked ₹ example
Assume the following illustrative training situation:
- Pot before the opponent acts: ₹1,500
- Opponent’s bet: ₹750
- Amount required to call: ₹750
The pot after the opponent’s bet is:
₹1,500 + ₹750 = ₹2,250
The final pot after the call would be:
₹2,250 + ₹750 = ₹3,000
Required equity:
₹750 ÷ ₹3,000 = 25%
The call requires at least 25% equity before considering later action, fees, uncertainty or other strategic factors.
Common bet sizes and required equity
The table assumes a heads-up situation in which the amount to call equals the opponent’s bet.

The calculation explains why larger bets demand more equity from a caller. It does not by itself determine whether calling, folding or raising is strategically best.
Pot odds ratio versus percentage
Pot odds are sometimes written as a ratio.
In the ₹1,500 pot example, the opponent bets ₹750. Before calling, there is ₹2,250 available to win and the call costs ₹750.
The ratio is:
₹2,250 : ₹750
Dividing both sides by ₹750 gives:
3 : 1
A 3-to-1 price corresponds to a 25% break-even probability because one success is needed for every three failures:
1 ÷ (3 + 1) = 25%
Percentage form is usually easier to compare directly with equity.
Do not double-count the opponent’s bet
A frequent calculator error is entering the pot after the opponent’s bet and then adding that same bet again.
Use one of these two methods:
Method A
- Enter pot before bet
- Enter opponent bet
- Enter call amount
Method B
- Enter pot currently visible after bet
- Enter call amount
Do not mix them.
Pot odds after a raise
Suppose:
- Pot before action: ₹2,000
- Player A bets ₹600
- Player B raises the total bet to ₹2,000
- You have already placed ₹600
- It now costs another ₹1,400 to continue
The calculator must use the additional ₹1,400 call, not the full ₹2,000 raise.
It must also include all money already in the pot from the current betting round.
This is why a calculator that accepts only “pot” and “bet size” can become confusing in multi-action pots. A better interface asks for the current pot after all opponent action and the exact additional amount required from the user.
5. Compare Equity With Pot Odds
Once both percentages are available, compare them.
- Equity above required equity indicates a positive simplified calling expectation.
- Equity below required equity indicates a negative simplified calling expectation.
- Equal percentages indicate an approximately break-even call before fees and further action.
Example: Open-ended straight draw on the turn
Illustrative figures:
- Current pot before opponent’s bet: ₹1,000
- Opponent bets: ₹500
- Amount to call: ₹500
- Your hand: J♣ 10♣
- Board: 9♠ 8♥ 2♦ 3♣
A Queen or 7 completes the straight:
- Four Queens
- Four 7s
- Eight apparent outs
With one card to come:
8 ÷ 46 = approximately 17.39%
The final pot after calling would be:
₹1,000 + ₹500 + ₹500 = ₹2,000
Required equity:
₹500 ÷ ₹2,000 = 25%
The estimated 17.39% improvement probability is below the 25% threshold.
Under the simplified assumptions that the eight outs are clean, missing always loses, hitting always wins and no further value is obtained, the call has negative expected value.
That conclusion can change if the current hand sometimes wins without improving, an out is dirty, the opponent’s range contains bluffs or future action is considered. Those changes must be modelled rather than assumed.
Example: Combination draw on the flop
Illustrative setup:
- Pot before bet: ₹750
- Opponent bets: ₹500
- Call amount: ₹500
- Your hand: 8♥ 9♥
- Board: 7♠ 10♥ 2♥
There are 15 unique apparent straight-or-flush outs after removing overlap.
Probability of hitting at least one listed out by the river:
Approximately 54.12%
Required equity for the call:
₹500 ÷ (₹750 + ₹500 + ₹500)
= ₹500 ÷ ₹1,750
= approximately 28.57%
The draw probability is substantially higher than the required percentage, but it should not automatically be labelled 54.12% equity. Some outs may produce ties, some runouts may give an opponent a redraw, and the current hand may already beat certain bluffs.
An equity calculator using an opponent range gives the more complete answer.
6. Expected Value Calculator
Expected value, commonly shortened to EV, expresses the average mathematical result of repeating the same decision many times under unchanged assumptions.
For a simplified call with no future betting:
EV of call = probability of winning × amount won − probability of losing × call amount
Use the pot available before making the call as the amount won. Do not count the player’s own returned call as profit.
Example
- Pot after opponent’s bet: ₹1,500
- Call amount: ₹500
- Estimated winning probability: 30%
- Losing probability: 70%
EV = 0.30 × ₹1,500 − 0.70 × ₹500
EV = ₹450 − ₹350
EV = +₹100
Under those narrow assumptions, the call produces an average theoretical value of ₹100 per repetition.
This does not mean the player receives ₹100 from the individual hand. The immediate result is still a win or loss. EV describes the average over a sufficiently large number of identical trials.
Negative EV example
Using the earlier open-ended straight draw:
- Pot after opponent’s bet: ₹1,500
- Call: ₹500
- Win probability: 17.39%
- Lose probability: 82.61%
EV = 0.1739 × ₹1,500 − 0.8261 × ₹500
EV = approximately ₹260.85 − ₹413.05
EV = approximately −₹152.20
That is the theoretical average loss under the simplified model.
Why calculated EV may differ from actual EV
The model can be wrong when:
- The opponent’s range is inaccurate
- Some outs are dirty
- The hand can win without improving
- Further betting occurs
- Multiple opponents remain
- A fee or rake reduces the amount won
- A player folds a winning hand later
- An opponent does not always pay additional value
- A tie is treated incorrectly
Expected value is only as reliable as its assumptions.
7. Implied Odds Calculator
Pot odds consider money already in the pot. Implied odds consider additional value that may be won on later streets after the hand improves.
Implied odds are often discussed vaguely. A calculator can at least estimate how much future value is required for a call to break even.
Required future winnings formula
Let:
C= amount to callP= pot after the opponent’s current bet, before your callp= probability of eventually winningF= additional future amount that must be won
The simplified break-even formula is:
F = [C × (1 − p) ÷ p] − P
This assumes no additional amount must be invested after the current call. Real hands can be more complicated.
Worked implied-odds example
- Pot after opponent’s bet: ₹1,800
- Call amount: ₹800
- Estimated chance of winning: 25%
F = [₹800 × 0.75 ÷ 0.25] − ₹1,800
F = ₹2,400 − ₹1,800
F = ₹600
The player would need to win an average of at least ₹600 in additional future value when successful for the current call to reach simplified break-even expectation.
The required amount is not a promise that the opponent will pay. It is a threshold.
When implied-odds assumptions become unreliable
Implied odds are weaker when:
- The draw is obvious
- The opponent is likely to stop betting
- Remaining stacks are shallow
- The completing card also frightens weaker hands
- The player may face another bet before completing the draw
- The hand may complete but still lose
- Several opponents can redraw
- The player is out of position
Implied odds should be reduced when future value is uncertain.
Reverse implied odds
Reverse implied odds describe the risk of losing additional value after making an apparently strong but second-best hand.
Examples include:
- A small flush against a possible higher flush
- The low end of a straight
- Top pair against a set-heavy range
- A full house that can be dominated by a higher full house
- A straight completed on a board where a flush is also possible
A basic calculator cannot know how much will be lost in these outcomes. Users must adjust the range and remove dirty outs rather than treating every improvement as a full win.
Implied odds are not permission to ignore pot odds
One of the most damaging mistakes in hand analysis is saying, “I might win more later,” without calculating how much more is needed.
A useful implied odds review asks:
- How much additional value is required?
- Are the remaining effective stacks large enough?
- How often will the opponent continue after the draw completes?
- Is the completed hand likely to be the best hand?
- Will another payment be required before the draw arrives?
- Is the estimate based on evidence or optimism?
When the answer relies on several uncertain assumptions, folding may remain the more disciplined interpretation.
8. Stack-to-Pot Ratio Calculator
Stack-to-pot ratio, or SPR, compares the effective remaining stack with the pot at the start of a betting street.
SPR = effective stack ÷ pot
The effective stack is the smaller stack among the players who can still contest the pot.
Example
- Player A has ₹10,000 remaining
- Player B has ₹7,500 remaining
- Pot at the start of the flop: ₹2,500
The effective stack is ₹7,500 because Player A cannot win more than Player B has available.
SPR = ₹7,500 ÷ ₹2,500 = 3
General interpretation

These labels are descriptive rather than prescriptive. A low SPR does not mean a player is forced to continue with every pair. A high SPR does not mean speculative hands automatically become profitable.
Why SPR matters
SPR helps frame how much future action remains possible.
At a low SPR, only a small number of pot-sized bets may fit before the effective stack is exhausted. At a high SPR, several betting decisions can remain, making hand strength, position and future board changes more important.
SPR can also help explain why the same hand behaves differently in two pots.
Top pair may be comparatively comfortable in a shallow pot but much more vulnerable when stacks are extremely deep. A drawing hand may have more implied-odds potential at a high SPR, provided the draw is concealed and likely to produce the best hand.
SPR does not measure equity
An SPR of 3 does not mean 33% equity, three outs or three-to-one pot odds. It is a separate ratio.
